THE INTERNATIONAL SKI FEDERATION and Halti, the leading Finnish outdoor brand and clothing partner for some of the best skiers in the world, announced that they have established a new cooperation whereby Halti will become an official FIS partner and the FIS official clothing supplier.
Under the agreement, Halti will provide clothing for the more than 100 FIS officials and professionals supporting the organization of the FIS World Cups, FIS World Ski Championships and the Olympic Winter Games in the FIS Olympic disciplines. The extensive package of gear will include everything from underwear, headgear and gloves to ski and sportswear as well as travel jackets, all carefully selected to serve the needs of the FIS officials in their work in all weather conditions. The outfits for the FIS officials will be part of an exclusive FIS season collection that will be on sale to the public the following season. In addition, Halti will develop a broad range of licensed products and discussions relating to an additional FIS merchandising line are under way as from the 2008-09 season. The new relationship between FIS and Halti will commence with the 2007-08 season and extend until the end of the 2009-10 season.
Specifically designed for heavy use, Halti’s products have proven to be not only breathable and lightweight, but also functional in a wide range of temperatures. The extreme conditions, down to minus-27 C at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Are, Sweden, were a perfect showcase as the team of volunteers were nevertheless pleased with the performance of their uniforms. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo, Japan, Halti equipped more than 4,200 people, including the organizing committee and host broadcaster, while the organizing team’s Halti uniform at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in Arosa was a specific snowboard style. Halti also recently became the official sponsor and clothing supplier of the 2009 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Val d'Isère, France.
“We are pleased to cooperate with Halti, who has shown a real commitment to ski sport and collected substantial experience in supplying high-quality outfits for organizers, including four FIS World Championships last season. Our officials will have the benefit of the very latest know-how in the demanding weather situations they encounter in their daily tasks,” said FIS President Gian Franco Kasper.
“We are very happy about this new cooperation between Halti and FIS. We are sure that with this package together with our great products and people, Halti will be able to make the breakthrough in the international market,” commented Halti’s Vice President Martti Uusitalo.
