In super-G training in Saalbach, Austria, on Wednesday, World Cup skier Cornelia Huetter crashed. The 24-year-old athlete suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in the right knee as well as a tear of the meniscus. The diagnosis was made by Austrian ski team doctor Torsten Walcher after an MRI and X-ray examination.

“We have been training in good conditions today,” the athlete shared. “On landing, the knee gave way, and I went straight to the next gate and fell. Sure, the diagnosis is a big shock to me. I’ve never had a more serious injury. This is a new hurdle for me, which I will definitely be able to overcome.”

The Austrian athlete recently earned second place in the World Cup downhill at Val d’Isere, France. She has 10 World Cup podium finishes to her name including one victory from last season’s super-G at Lenzerheide.
