More than a foot of fresh snow and favorable snowmaking temperatures will bring an early start to Mammoth’s 2026–27 winter season.
Mammoth Mountain will open for the 2026–27 winter season on Thursday, Nov. 5, eight days ahead of its originally scheduled Nov. 13 opening.
According to a Nov. 3 announcement from Ikon Pass, more than a foot of fresh snow over the past week, combined with favorable snowmaking temperatures, helped the California resort move up its opening day.
Opening Terrain
Mammoth plans to operate the Lower Panorama Gondola and Broadway Express, also known as Chair 1, with access to three trails. The resort will expand terrain as conditions allow.
The early opening gives skiers and riders another option for getting on snow as the North American winter season begins.
More Ikon Pass Destinations Open
Mammoth will join three Ikon Pass destinations already operating for the season: Arapahoe Basin in Colorado, Lake Louise Ski Resort in Alberta and Zermatt in Switzerland.
Arapahoe Basin opened Oct. 28. For the 2026–27 season, both Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Pass holders receive unlimited access to the Colorado resort.
Ikon Pass offers access to more than 70 destinations worldwide, with access varying by pass product and destination. The 2026–27 passes remain on sale.
