Marco Odermatt provided his contribution to the year of fallen records. Most significantly, he was able to eclipse the long-held men’s season point total record established by Hermann Maier during the 1999-2000 season. That season Maier accumulated 2000 points competing in 30 races. This season Odermatt was able to earn 2042 points in 27 competitions. Odermatt also won the 2023 overall giant slalom and super-G titles and World Championships in two disciplines..

Odermatt undoubtedly has exceptional skiing skills but also has a high level of athleticism that allows him to take risks and recover quickly when he exceeds his limits. He also has a great vision of the courses allowing him to execute near-perfect timing. However, most notably, he is among the most efficient skiers in history, reminiscent of the great Ingemar Stenmark.
