SwissSki has issued a press release concerning World Cup overall, super-G and giant slalom leader Marco Odermatt. Odermatt hurt his knee while nearly crashing on the Steilhang. The Swiss star made a recovery few could accomplish, but it appears it came at a physical cost.

Marco Odermatt suffered a blow to his left knee today and will skip tomorrow's downhill run in Kitzbühel.

"I'm glad I didn't end up in the net. But first I have to rest my knee a bit and I'm looking at it day by day," said the National Team athlete.

Further examinations will carried out.

The first examinations here in Kitzbühel did not show any recent injuries to Marco Odermatt's knee. Impact effects are treated conservatively.

The knee needs a little rest now and Marco will be taking day by day to see when he can get back into racing.

Marco Odermatt felt pain in his left knee after a hit on today's descent.
