27-year-old Austrian Christopher Neumayer suffered a torn ACL and a tibial head fracture following a hard crash in Sunday’s World Cup alpine combined in Bormio, Italy.

Neumayer high-sided while entering the difficult traverse section of the Stelvio slope during his super-G run and slid head-first into the safety netting. The Austrian was airlifted off course and returned to Austria for further evaluation. An MRI conducted on Sunday evening in Innsbruck revealed the extent of his injuries.

It was a tough weekend for the Austrian men as veteran Hannes Reichelt also tore his ACL after crashing out in Saturday’s downhill. Both Numayer’s and Reichelt’s injuries have ended their seasons.
