On the eve of her induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, Olympic champion Picabo Street and husband John Reeser welcomed a new baby boy. Dax Meyer Street Reeser was born in Birmingham, Ala., on August 3. It was the second child for Street, the 1998 Olympic super G gold medalist.

“He’s perfect,” said Street. “He’s mellow and tough. It’s all good.”

Street and her husband were married last fall and now have a family with three boys, including Dax’ brothers Treyjan and Eli.

The arrival of the new family member kept Street from personally attending the Aug. 12 U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame presentation in Chicago. But she welcomed a video crew into her home to send a special tribute. Street was introduced by fellow Hall of Famer Phil Mahre in the ceremony. She had earlier been inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2004.

The two-time World Cup downhill titlist splits time between her homes in Alabama and Park City, where she still finds time to make turns at Park City Mountain Resort. A decade after her historic gold, she remains passionately interested in ski racing and a close follower of  ski team competitor Lindsey Vonn.
