University of Denver skier Sara Rask was named the 2025 Sportswomen of Colorado award winner for skiing after a dominant season that included NCAA slalom and giant slalom titles, multiple collegiate victories, and continued excellence both on the slopes and in the classroom.
University of Denver skiing announced today that reigning women’s alpine national champion Sara Rask will return to the Pioneers for her final year of collegiate skiing.
AJ Hurt and Ben Ritchie wrapped up their seasons with national slalom titles at the U.S. Alpine Nationals in Vail. Ritchie led a Stifel U.S. Ski Team sweep on the men’s side, while the women’s race came down to hundredths and featured standout runs from both veterans and rising collegiate stars.
The alpine racers moved back onto the Dartmouth Skiway for the giant slalom portion of the NCAA National Championships. Sara Rask of the University of Denver earns back-to-back wins and Johs B Herland achieves victory for University of Utah.

The Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) headed into the final two days of regular season racing, battling for top spots in slalom. February 21st was the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Invitational, and the series concluded with the 76th Annual RMISA Championships on the 22nd.
The alpine portion of the RMISA Qualifier and Utah Invitational took place last weekend at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. Five different athletes achieved victory and other milestones were achieved. Read more.
The athletes faced yet another bitterly cold day as they competed in the first event of the 2025 collegiate circuit. They had two days of slalom racing at the Loveland Ski Area prior to the giant slalom competition at Copper Mountain. CU Buffs charged to the top in both the men's and women's fields.

The collegiate season kicked off yesterday with an RMISA Qualifier slalom event held on the course in Loveland, Colorado. Both University of Denver and University of Colorado athletes earned a spot on the top of the podium. Sara Rask (DU) won against the women’s field, and Filip Wahlqvist (CU) achieved victory for the men.
Recap: Last weekend the men and women of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) competed in Big Sky Resort, Montana, in the RMISA Alpine Qualifiers and the RMISA Championships. It was an intense battle for the athletes as it marked the final events before NCAA Championships. As a team, the CU Buffs came out on top of the 75th Annual RMISA Championships.
