Switzerland Names World Championship Team for Saalbach 2025

Switzerland, the current leader in the Nations Cup standings by 2,422 points over Austria, has announced its 24-athlete roster for the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach, which begin on Tuesday.

While the selection of 13 men was expected, one name among the 11 women stood out. Delphine Darbellay, 22, was included despite not fully meeting Swiss Ski’s selection criteria. Darbellay has yet to qualify for a second run in her three World Cup giant slalom starts this season but earned silver at the World University Games in Bardonecchia, Italy. She will compete in the team event.

Alongside Darbellay, six other Swiss athletes will make their World Championship debuts: Marco Kohler, Lars Rösti, and Franjo von Allmen on the men’s side, and Malorie Blanc, Eliane Christen, and Aline Höpli on the women’s side.

Historically, Switzerland ranks second in all-time World Championship medals with 211 (72 gold, 73 silver, and 66 bronze), trailing only Austria (309) and ahead of France (138).
