Amelia Smart won the first women’s slalom in Panorama Friday for her fifth career NorAm slalom win. Joining her on the podium were Americans Zoe Zimmerman and Lila Lapanja, who were 0.99 and 2.07 seconds off the pace, respectively. Zimmerman and Smart both recently raced the Killington World Cup slalom.
Three more Canadians finished in the top 10. Arianne Forget finished in fifth, Eleri Smart in sixth, and Justine Lamontagne in eighth. Meanwhile, Ainsley Profitt and Kendahl Roufa were the other two Americans in the top 10. This was Roufa’s first time cracking the top 10 in a NorAm.
The women have one more day of slalom tomorrow to wrap up this NorAm series.

Liam Wallace and Asher Jordan finished in first and third in the men’s GS on Friday. Separating the Canadian teammates was American Cooper Cornelius, who finished in second place. Wallace won the race by one second, just .01 seconds more than Smart won the women’s race today.
This was Cornelius’ first NorAm podium, though he barely missed the podium in fourth place during one of the super-G races this series.
“Today was my first NorAm podium,” Cornelius. “I am super pumped to make it happen. I knew I was skiing fast going into today, just had to execute my plan. Overall, I was excited with the day and feel good going into tomorrows race.”
The next fastest Americans were Robby Kelley and Cooper Puckett, who finished in seventh and ninth. The Canadians secured four of the top six spots today, with Riley Seger and Sam Mulligan finishing in fifth and sixth.
The men have one more day of GS to wrap up this series. Stay tuned.
