Who is racing, when and how to watch the Wednesday, January 25th Kronplatz GS
Kronplatz will now be remembered as the race location where Mikaela Shiffrin won her 83rd World Cup. A milestone never before achieved by a woman in alpine skiing. However, tomorrow is another opportunity to see her and the other amazing athletes on the demanding Kronplatz ERTA race hill. Today’s race lived up to its potential. It delivered drama all the way through Shiffrin’s very last turn. The challenge of winning a World Cup has not gotten any easier, but she is making it look like it is.
Tomorrow fans should expect a similar battle with the top women skiing with a complete understanding of what it will take to win. USA’s Paula Moltzan continues to display her two-event talent. She showed today that a podium is not an unreasonable expectation. Nina O’Brien skied a brilliant second run that give her the confidence to return to her best skiing. Canada’s Valerie Grenier continues to produce world-class results; she now has four top-ten 2022-23 GS results, including her Kranjska Gora victory
Women’s GS is must see tv
It is a fact that women’s GS is very compelling and Mikaela Shiffrin’s win rate makes every race a must-see.
There have been seven women’s giant slaloms this season and we have seen four different winners. The Italian Marta Bassino has been on the podium five times and has one victory. Seven women from six nations have populated the top three. Mikaela Shiffrin has four podiums, but they are all victories. It is exciting. As of today, Shiffrin has taken the season lead in the giant slalom standings.

The Alpine Canada Alpin team has three women starting tomorrow and the Stifel US Alpine Team has five.
