Steamboat Springs, Colo. – Steamboat Mountain School proudly announces its continued commitment as an educational partner of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Club of the Year, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) for over three decades. Together, they have fostered the development of numerous U.S. Ski and Snowboard team members, X Games competitors, and top FIS and U16 athletes. With the 23-24 winter season in full swing, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club unveils a new chapter with the appointment of Brian Krill as the organization’s Executive Director.

A seasoned professional with nearly three decades of experience in education and the nonprofit sector, Brian Krill has a rich history in competitive mountain athletics. Following college, Krill embarked on a journey that led him to pivotal roles, including U.S. Ski and Snowboard Club Development Manager in 2013 and Director of Sport Education in 2015, where he spearheaded the education and certification of ski and snowboard clubs and coaches nationwide. In 2016, Krill assumed the role of Executive Director for the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club, and most recently, he served as the Executive Director and Head of School at Sugar Bowl Ski Team and Academy from 2020.

Of particular interest to Steamboat Mountain School is Krill’s extensive background in the integration of academics and competitive athletics. The school, founded in 1957, offers a comprehensive K-12 independent education with day and boarding options for upper school students. The unique modular schedule for upper school students enables student-athletes to pursue academic interests while accommodating the demands of competitive skiing or riding. At a recent information session at Steamboat Mountain School, Krill expressed enthusiasm about the modular schedule, stating, “The schedule will allow our winter athletes more flexibility throughout the entire year, enabling them to cultivate their training, competition, travel, and academic schedules to ensure their success both on the hill and in the classroom.”

Furthermore, Steamboat Mountain School has enhanced its athletic facilities, particularly the Henderson Gymnasium on the Mountain Campus. Thanks to a shared fundraising initiative with SSWSC, the gym now features eight complete training stations, along with various dry land training equipment. This upgraded facility serves as a secondary training hub SSWSC’s teams.

Steamboat Mountain School looks forward to the continued success of its partnership with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club under Brian Krill’s leadership. The school remains dedicated to providing student-athletes with a holistic educational experience that supports both academic and athletic excellence.
