1. New Events

Nearly 2,900 elite athletes from around the globe will be heading to Italy to compete for medals across the 16 sports that will take place during the Olympic Winter Games. However, some of those 16 will be making their debut at Milano Cortina 2026 – specifically Ski Mountaineering.

Commonly referred to as “skimo,” the event is known to be exciting, exhausting, and adrenaline-filled and will display the beauty of the area as athletes will have to ascend as well as descend the mountain. Ski mountaineering will feature three categories at the Olympic Winter Games: men’s and women’s sprints, and a mixed relay.

Other events with new categories making their first appearance at Milano Cortina 2026 include a mixed team event in skeleton, dual moguls in freestyle skiing, and an additional individual large hill ski jumping event for women.

2. The Magnificence of the Ceremonies

There is always a buzz and excitement surrounding the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games, and Milano Cortina 2026 promises to be nothing less than spectacular by making the most of the region’s most iconic venues.

The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, known as the San Siro, in Milano, Italy. This is the largest stadium in Italy and is also home to two professional soccer teams, rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The ancient Arena di Verona—a Roman amphitheater dating from 30 AD—will serve as a stunning backdrop for the Closing Ceremony in Verona, blending history with excellence in a remarkable way.

Tickets for these events will be coveted, and Official Hospitality has designed packages that guarantee not only tickets but also include accommodation and exclusive lounge access so you can enjoy the Ceremonies in style.

3. Exploring Iconic Cities and Mountain Villages

The Milano Cortina 2026 events are being hosted across various regions, including Lombardia, Veneto, and Trentino Alto-Adige. From the urban centers of Milano and Verona, to the beautiful Alpine villages of Cortina and Anterselva, there is something for everyone to enjoy alongside the action on the snow and ice.

These Olympic Winter Games present a unique opportunity to explore the area, and visitors can immerse themselves in the rich culture and historical significance of cities like Verona and Milano.
