The women’s regular season super-G has wrapped up, leaving only the World Cup finals in Saalbach Austria on March 23rd. Who made the cut for the finals? Only the top 25 from the regular season in each discipline, plus the reigning Junior World Champion in each event. Swiss skier Malorie Blanc clinched the super-G honor this season at 20 years old.

Lara Gut-Behrami holds a commanding 69-point lead in the season’s super-G standings. However, Austrian Cornelia Huetter and Italian Federica Brignone still have a shot at the title. Gut-Behrami aims for her 5th super-G globe.

In the women’s super-G Nations Cup battle, Austria leads with 239 points, followed by Italy and Switzerland. Norway is fourth but well behind the front runners.

The Stifel US Ski Team holds the 6th position in the rankings with a total of 262 points, while Canada, despite limited participation in the races, has secured the 12th spot with 44 points. Impressively, a total of 14 nations have witnessed their women athletes scoring World Cup super-G points throughout the season, showcasing the global reach and competitiveness of women’s skiing.

Among North Americans, only 21-year-old Lauren Macuga from the Stifel US Ski Team made it into the top 25 women super-G skiers this season. She capped off her qualification with a bang, achieving her career-best World Cup finishes in Kvitfjell, Norway, placing 7th and 5th. Remarkably, after failing to score any World Cup super-G points in her rookie season in 2023, she scored in seven out of the eight super-G races this season, securing three top-10 finishes, including her stellar performances in Kvitfjell.

Additionally, her teammate Mikaela Shiffrin will be welcome to start in any final discipline due to her season accumulation of more than 500 points from all the disciplines.

The Women’s World Cup super-G final in Saalbach, Austria on March 22nd, 2024, will determine the season downhill winner and the Women’s Downhill Nations Cup champion.
