Park City, Utah (May 5, 2026) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard has announced the 48 athletes nominated to the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team for the 2026–27 season, laying the foundation for a campaign that builds toward the 2027 World Championships. The nominations include athletes who met the published selection criteria.

The Process: What Happens Next?

U.S. Ski & Snowboard has completed the first phase of its selection process with nominations, while final team naming is scheduled for October.

Athletes are formally nominated in May and, pending acceptance and fulfillment of team criteria, will be officially named to the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team in October 2026.

The Standouts: Who Leads This Team?

The nomination list is anchored by athletes who continue to push the limit at the highest level of the sport:

  • Mikaela Shiffrin, the winningest alpine skier in history, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and eight-time world champion
  • Breezy Johnson, Olympic and world downhill champion
  • Ryan Cochran-Siegle, two-time Olympic silver medalist
  • Lindsey Vonn, the most successful speed discipline skier in history and Olympic gold medalist

Vonn Included: What Does It Mean?

The inclusion of 41-year-old Lindsey Vonn immediately stands out. Her presence adds intrigue, but her impact this season remains uncertain.

Vonn has not ruled out a return, yet the timeline for that comeback remains unclear following the injury she sustained in February at the Cortina 2026 Olympics.

The 2010 Olympic downhill champion entered the Cortina 2026 Olympics leading the World Cup downhill standings and was one of the favorites for another gold medal.

The Season Ahead: Where This Team Is Headed

The 2026–27 World Cup season builds toward its defining moment: the 2027 World Championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in February.

That stage will test this group at the limit, where strength, timing, and execution separate contenders from the rest. Several U.S. athletes are positioned to challenge for medals.

The official Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team announcement will be made in the fall.
