This past week, the men competed in the final regular season NorAm series, hosted in Mont Ste-Marie, Quebec. Two giant slaloms and two slaloms were scheduled. However, one of the slaloms got canceled. Nevertheless, the men had a successful few days of racing before the NorAm Finals.

The Men's World Cup Downhill is heating up as the season inches closer to its finale. With only two races left in the calendar, the title is up for grabs between France's Cyprien Sarrazin and Switzerland's Marco Odermatt. Sarrazin has clinched three victories this season, while Odermatt closely follows with two wins. Currently, Odermatt leads the downhill standings with 516 points, but Sarrazin is nipping at his heels with just 6 points behind at 510. Italy's Dominik Paris trails in a distant third with 329 points, while last season's title winner, Norway's Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, is out due to injury.
The veteran Swede Anna Swenn Larson skied with confidence, attacking the steep long pitch and delivering the fastest time of the morning. Using a similar approach, the racer with the second-fastest time was delivered by Stiflel US Ski Team member Paula Moltzan (+0.14). The only other skier within a half second of Swenn Larson is Croatian Zrinka Ljutic (+0.42).

The gap is a mere 25 points, making every turn on the ERTA slope crucial. Unfortunately, Shiffrin's and Grenier's crashes while racing in Cortina d'Ampezzo will mean they will miss the race in Kronplatz and likely eliminate them from the close battle for the season's GS title.
